Betty and I started our journey together a long, long time ago, and God has been so good to allow our pathway to lie in such pleasant places. Now we are beginning a new part of our journey together. The Lord has blessed us with 6 wonderful sons and daughters, 20 fine grandsons and grandaughters, and 16+ beautiful great grandchildren. Next to the Lord Himself our family is the most precious thing on earth to us. May God bless and keep each one as you seek to live for Him and to glorify His name in your families.
On August 4TH, our journey took a turn in the road which caught us unawares. Of course the Lord has always known our pathway from the beginning to the end here on earth. Nothing ever takes Him by surprise. Unknown to us, He has already been preparing us for this change. A flouroscopy on that day indicated a large mass in my esophagus which subsequent tests proved to be malignant. Baylor oncology indicates a large malignant tumor in the upper esophagus, another at the juncture with the stomach, and another spot on the liver.
We have been at MD Anderson since Monday August 29th undergoing a battery of tests. Today 9/1/11 at 12:30 pm we meet with Dr. Ajani who is a specialist in gastro-esophageal cancer to find the results of these tests and to hear his recommendation. We expect to return home to Dallas after that appointment, but we are not sure until we talk with him. Our daughter and son-in-law, Jill and Jody Mazzola (all the other family members readily volunteered to do the same), brought us down, helped shepherd through this vast complex, and are returning to hopefully take us back to Dallas.
GOD HAS BEEN SO GOOD to allow us to enjoy health and strength all these years. We praise Him and rejoice in His goodnes, grace, and mercy! We may soon know where our next steps will lead us, but it is such a comfort to know that our steps are ordered by the Lord. A-Men!
We are praying for peace as you enter this next season of your lives. Love from the Cutrell's

ReplyDeleteReading this over my morning coffee...what a way to start the day! A strong, faith-filled message of joy, thanksgiving, and peace...and from the trenches, no less! Thank you, Grandfather (that is what I know you as from Dan and Janae) for sharing your perspective. It's one that I'm sure will encourage many here on Earth, and make our Heavenly Father very proud.
ReplyDeletePraying for your family.
